White Castle puts its Valentine’s Day tradition on wheels

White Castle is going retro for Valentine’s Day.

The hamburger chain is doing a socially-distanced version of its 30-year Valentine’s Day dining tradition by transforming its restaurants into classic drive-ins with carhop service, according to a release. Reservations can be made here

“COVID forced us to re-imagine our annual Valentine’s Day event,” said Jamie Richardson, a vice president at White Castle, in a prepared statement. “This creative and safe solution allows us to celebrate a tradition our customers love. We’re happy to share that once again this Valentine’s Day, White Castle will become Love Castle.”

Pre-pandemic, White Castle restaurants had a tradition dating to 1991 of transforming their dining rooms for Valentine’s Day. Hostess seating, tableside service, and festive holiday decorations turned the fast food spaces into fine dining establishments.

This year, over 300 participating White Castle spots will participate in the 30th anniversary of the event, turning their parking lots into “Slider Lover’s Point”. Guests can even listen to a special soundtrack via “Slider Lover’s Luv Channel” on Spotify.

What do you say, Columbus? Is it a date?
