Downtown Commission approves demolition of this historic Cbus landmark

After almost a year of debating whether or not a historic Columbus landmark should be demolished, it’s officially the end of an era for the Spaghetti Warehouse building on West Broad St.

News broke last January that a proposal to raze the historic building went before the City Commission for an enormous mix-used development. On Tuesday, October 22, the Commission approved of the demolition.

Calls to preserve the former Spaghetti Warehouse did not go unheard, but the new development’s team, including a structural engineer, deemed the current building unsafe and in deteriorating condition.

The building could be demolished as early as the end of the year.

The new development will have around 235 apartments, with at least 30% of them for affordable housing for those earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income.
