Champion steer sells for a record-shattering $225K at Ohio State Fair

While this year’s Ohio State Fair has officially come to an end, its most recent iteration is sure to live on in the history books.

At the fair’s annual sale of top-placing livestock from 4-H and Future Farmers of America competitors, the event’s grand champion steer sold for a record-breaking $225,000.

The steer was exhibited by Auglaize County high schooler Ryleigh Egbert, and purchased by S&S Volvo in Lima, Ohio.

According to a statement released by the Ohio State Fair, the amount beat previous sale records by more than $140,000. The release also stated that the $225,000 was the most bid on any animal ever in the history of the Fair.

The sale of champions at the Fair event also netted a record-breaking amount of $676,500.
