New food and entertainment concept coming to the site of the long-vacant Upper Arlington Cafe

The Upper Arlington Cafe served as a northwest side hub for food and fun throughout two decades until it closed in 2010, and it’s stood vacant ever since.

Soon enough, however, that’s about to change.

The Fairway Columbus, a brand-new golf simulator lounge and kitchen, will open inside a 7,000 square foot section of the massive storefront, which is located at 1975 W. Henderson Rd.

Several other retail concepts will eventually round out the massive former Arlington Cafe space, although it’s currently unclear what those will be. According to owner Scott Stender, The Fairway plans to open on Sep. 1, 2023.

“Ever since I moved to Upper Arlington, I’ve been enamored with the drive this community has toward supporting their neighbors,” Stender said. “There’s a lot of nostalgia at this location, and our goal is to do right by it, to build our own sense of community around it.”

The Fairway will feature seven TrackMan golf simulators, machines Stender refers to as “the cream of the crop.” Six of the simulators will be open for public use, and one will likely be reserved for private parties.

According to Stedner, The Fairway plans to lease out their kitchen space to a third-party food truck or restaurant, which will serve as an on-site eatery for guests.

A food partner hasn’t been named yet, but the partnership will operate like the partnership between BrewDog’s Short North taproom and OX-B’s, or Homestead Brewing and the Delaware Station pizzeria.
