According to ‘Food & Wine,’ this Columbus eatery is one of the best “classic restaurants” in the country
While Lindey’s is a Columbus staple and a name most in central Ohio are familiar with, the long-standing German Village spot recently gained some national recognition.
In August, “Food & Wine” listed the popular steakhouse as one of the best “classic restaurants” in the country.
The article, “The best classic restaurant in each state,” has Lindey’s at the top of its list for Ohio.

“Lately, the bustling state capital of Columbus has mostly been famous for what’s new, but the 19th-century German Village neighborhood, a maze of narrow streets lined with impossibly charming brick homes, feel something like the Midwest version of the French Quarter,” the story reads. “It’s here that you’ll find Lindey’s, a smart, upscale tavern and grill that has been a local mainstay since the 1980s; a table out front on a summer’s evening is still one of the best bookings in town.”
The “Food & Wine” article typically lists multiple spots from each state, and it goes on to name The Golden Lamb in Lebanon and Price Hill Chili in Cincinnati later in the entry for Ohio.
