The Peanut Shoppe, billed as the oldest business in downtown Columbus, closed on May 7 to undergo extensive interior renovations.

Exactly six months later, the long-standing shop is once again open for business. According to owner Pat Stone, the downtown store officially reopened yesterday.

The Peanut Shoppe is located at 21 E. State St.

While construction will likely continue on the building’s facade throughout the end of the year, according to Stone, the store’s main entrance is still accessible. The fencing that currently surrounds the Peanut Shoppe has an opening located directly underneath its iconic neon Planters sign, which is located at the corner of South High Street and East State Street.

Stone said it’s likely the COTA bus stop located in front of the store will return at the end of January, making a visit to the long-standing store even easier.
