Anticipated neighborhood market opening this week in Franklinton

Franklinton Market has almost arrived.

The unique new “neighborhood-centric” marketplace will hold its grand opening tomorrow, beginning at 2 p.m. 

The opening event will feature gift card giveaways every hour and live music from 2-8 p.m.

Franklinton Market, which is located within the River & Rich development at 439 W. Rich St., was started by friends Tameika Cobb and Rasheedah Crawley. The 1,200 square-foot store will feature snacks, light groceries, toiletries, beverages, tobacco products and more, but the duo also hopes Franklinton Market serves as more than just an everyday convenience store.

“We will involve the neighborhood in planning the store inventory by answering questions on our online survey form. We want to be involved in our community. We want to make sure we’re giving people what they want,” Cobb said. “We decided we don’t want a typical convenience store. We have a vision and are following through with it.”
