Award-winning Columbus sweet shop will take temporary hiatus during expansion

Good things come to those who wait.

So while that means we’ll have to bid farewell to the artisan candy maker MMELO (pronounced “mellow”) for now, the concept will be back soon, and with big things in tow.

MMELO posted an announcement to its Instagram page yesterday that stated the boutique confectioner, off the heels of its Polaris pop-up closing, will take some time month off to regroup and retune.

“MMELO is growing and we’re taking the summer months to revamp our processes, recipes and facilities to support that growth,” a statement posted to Mmelo’s Instagram reads. “In the meantime, our Polaris pop-up is now officially closed and online ordering is on temporary hiatus until July when it will reopen with a new slate of products that include sugar-free options!

The gourmet candymakers will remain open for corporate orders and catering during the summer.

The announcement comes several weeks after MMELO’s founder Michelle Allen was awarded the distinction of Small Business Person of the Year Award by the Ohio Small Business Association.
