Clintonville BBQ restaurant closes to the public

While The Pit BBQ Grille still operates multiple locations in Central Ohio, the eatery–which is owned in part by a pair of former Ohio State football stars–has shifted gears at its Clintonville location.

According to co-owner D’Andre Martin, The Pitt has opted to turn its Clintonville restaurant into a catering hub, at least for now.

Martin said the eatery, which is located at 4219 N. High St., will serve for now as a catering kitchen. He didn’t rule out a potential re-opening of the Clintonville spot, and said the eatery is “waiting and seeing” how things pan out.

Currently, The Pit operates two locations in Columbus-area food halls, with a third slated to open soon. The eatery is open inside North Market Bridge Park and Budd Dairy Food Hall.

It’s slated to open another location inside of New Albany’s Bubbly Hall soon.

The Pitt offers “Cleveland-style barbecue with a twist,” according to Martin, who owns the eatery alongside Mike Johnson and former OSU and NFL players Bryant Browning and Chimdi Chekwa.
