Drive-through ramen restaurant with robot servers coming to Northwest Side

What’s better than a new ramen restaurant? How about a new ramen restaurant with a drive-thru window and robotic servers.

This is what Hiro Ramen is bringing to the Northwest Side of Columbus when it opens next month.

According to Hiro’s social media manager Norman Ai, the eatery–which is located at 4800 Sawmill Rd.–is slated to open sometime in March, although no official grand opening date has been announced just yet.

“We were seeing what brings comfort to my family, and there’s always been comfort in ramen for us,” Ai said. “We also wanted to create something that was more accessible.”

His business partners (his father-in-law and uncle-in-law) have been operating restaurants for nearly 25 years, and a wealth of experience with ramen and as well. Ai said the eatery also plans to experiment with different ramen options, like curry ramen and more.

“The broth is typically so simple that it gives you room to do things like that,” he said.

Located in the former Sawmill Road Burger King, Ai said Hiro Ramen will focus on being able to serve customers quickly as well, although the space will offer dine-in seating.

Hiro Ramen also plans to introduce robotic servers. Ai is unsure of the exact role these will play currently, but they could even eventually create a fully-automated drive-thru experience.
