Local candy company with more than 1,500 different items expanding into new location
Buckeye Candy Company is set to move into a new, and much larger, home.
The Gahanna-based sweets shop–known for offering a wide variety of rare and unusual candies from around the world–is relocating from its current location at 104 Granville St. to 355 Granville St., a move of roughly one quarter of a mile. Buckeye Candy Company plans to open at its new location by early summer.
According to co-owner Jay Sokol, the move will first and foremost allow the business to operate out of a larger space.

“The new store is more than double the size of the original one,” Sokol said. “We’re going from about 750 square feet to 1,700.”
And for a company that prides itself on variety, more room means more shelf space for the unusual or hard to find candies that are the calling card of the business.
“We have the biggest selection of European candy in the area, it’s become an entire niche for us. Half of our Easter candy was stuff from Europe, like real Cadbury Eggs” Sokol said. “We’ve developed this whole following of people from there who can’t find it anywhere else.”
According to Sokol, the new location will also allow Buckeye Candy Company to focus more on its e-commerce business, and will offer customers a parking lot, which was not present at its original location.
