New beach-inspired restaurant and bar opens doors on near east side
Even with a few consecutive days above freezing, it’s still cold in Columbus. One newly-opened King-Lincoln Bronzeville restaurant and bar may be able to remind you of warmer days, however.
Waves Bar & Kitchen, which is located at 828 E. Long St., officially opened its door for business on Dec. 28.
According to a joint email from owners Tanitia Brown, Tim Brown and David Burke, the new concept is “built around that blissful feeling of being at the beach. We want people to come in, eat some great food, have a nice cocktail, and enjoy the atmosphere. We want you to feel like your life is at ease with our ocean breeze!”

Waves three owners, who are also siblings, told 614Now opening a restaurant together as a collaborative space where ideas and dishes could be shared together has been a longstanding dream for each.
The trio is grateful to share a cooperative space, and they’re also grateful to be situated in a unique piece of King-Lincoln Bronzeville history.
“We had the concept and we loved the neighborhood. But, we knew it was meant to be after discovering our restaurant front housed the original stone the Near East Side residents saved from the old Adelphi Savings & Loan Bank before it was demolished,” Waves’ owners said. “The facade was taken down piece by piece and stored in a nearby garage to be used again one day. How fortunate are we to have a piece of this history. Everyday we touch this facade and realize we represent so many unfulfilled dreams.”
At 1,746 square feet, Waves Bar & Kitchen also offers a spacious patio and a full bar featuring coktails.
