A hot new concept is coming to cool down patrons at the East Market.

NOLA Daq Shack, a unique new daiquiri and milkshake bar, is slated to open on Sept. 1, although this date is could change, according to co-owner Janvier Ward.

Also the owner of Creole 2 Geaux, an authentic Cajun eatery that’s currently open in the East Market, Ward will operate NOLA Daq Shack alongside her sister, Maxine Ohakim.

According to Ward, the concept is both a nod to the sisters’ New Orleans roots as well as their late brother.

“I’m excited to share such a special moment with my sister. We are starting this business as a team and a way to honor our brother.”

The East Market is located at 212 Kelton Ave. NOLA Daq Shack will be located next to Creole 2 Geaux

The concept will feature dairiquis, milkshakes, and sno-balls, a New Orleans variety of sno-cones with condensed flavor and a smoother texture. Patrons will also be able to take their drinks to one of the two in-house East Market bars to add a splash of alcohol.
