The last Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in central Ohio has closed its doors.

According to a sign on the eatery’s front door, the Perkins located at 1451 Hilliard Rome Rd. in Hilliard has shuttered permanently.

“To our valued guests, this location of Perkins is closed for business. Thank you for your patronage,” the sign reads.  Additionally, the eatery’s staff adorned the building’s windows with messages to customers, made using temporary paint.

Several messages list employee names and the lengths of their employment at the restaurant, others include positive farewells, such as “We miss you all,” and “More than just a restaurant, we’re family.”

The Hilliard eatery was the last remaining Perkins in the Columbus area. Currently, the nearest Perkins is located at 1197 Mt Vernon Ave. in Marion.

Perkins, which was founded in Cincinnati in 1958 as Perkins Pancake House, is now headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
