Boston Stoker’s longest-tenured Columbus location is about to call it quits, and multiple other storefronts are going with it.

According to General Manager Justin Loring, the Boston Stoker location in Thurber VIllage Shopping Center will close its doors for good on Oct. 31. The early Nails on Neil business will remain open until Nov. 15, or longer. Nails on Neil will then move to 2869 Olentangy River Rd.

Local developer Casto plans to replace the Thurber Village Shopping Center with a pair of commercial buildings and a five-story apartment building. The ceremonial groundbreaking for the new development took place earlier this month.

Casto did not provide a comment on the matter when contacted by 614NOW.

According to Loring, himself and another employee will be transferred to Boston Stoker’s Grandview location, which opened earlier this year. The store’s other employees will lose their jobs.

“I wish more employees could be absorbed, but the location is well-staffed already,” he said. “I think I can speak for my staff that we love the Victorian Village neighborhood. It’s a very inviting, generous, loyal neighborhood.”

Loving noted he’s glad to see the area getting the new grocery store it desires (Casto’s development will bring a new Lucky’s Market location to one of the commercial buildings), but he said he was sad to see it come at the expense of Boston Stoker and the other Thurber Village businesses.
