The Central Ohio Crime Stoppers are doubling down their efforts to find the perpetrator of a homicide.

In the group’s most recent Crime of the Week—a recurring segment that aims to bring unsolved crimes back into the spotlight—the death of 21 year Dalan Wellman is featured.

Wellman was shot and killed on July 26, 2020 in the patio area of Story Lounge, an East Side bar and nightclub located at 1450 E. 5th Ave.

At approximately 2:12 a.m. on the date of the incident, Columbus Police patrol officers observed multiple shots being fired near the intersection of E. 5th Avenue and Joyce Avenue.

Witnesses directed responding officers to Wellman, who had been shot in the head, as several other witnesses were attempting to transport the 21 year old to a local hospital. Columbus Fire and medics then took Wellman to Grant Medical Center, where he was treated for the gunshot but later passed away.

Police believe four suspects were involved in the incident, and that the individuals used a 2012 Ford Fusion in the crime. They allegedly drove past Story Lounge’s outdoor patio and opened fire, hitting Wellman and another bystander in the arm. The second victim eventually recovered.

A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of those responsible for Wellman’s death. If you have information on the crime, contact Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477. You can also submit a tip through the Crime Stoppers website, or the P3 Tips mobile app.
