Columbus Police are on the lookout for a man who committed aggravated robbery while attempting to steal from a West Side grocery store over the holiday weekend.

According to police, at 2:40 p.m. on July 2, a man shopping at the Kroger grocery store located at 1585 Georgesville Rd. attempted to steal a shopping cart “full of Red Bull and Tide.”

When the store’s assistant manager asked for his receipt at the exit, the man simply pushed the cart by her and continued into the parking lot.

The suspect left the cart unattended while searching for his ride in the parking, and the manager used the opportunity to try retrieving it. The suspect then allegedly brandished a tan semi-automatic handgun and told the assistant manager not to be stupid, according to Columbus Police.

The man fled on foot after showing the weapon, and a white Jeep was seeing driving in the same direction as the man.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Det. Agee at (614) 645-3941, the CLD Robbery Squad at (614) 645-4665 or the Columbus Area Crimestoppers at (614) 461-8477.
