One dead after shooting in northwest Columbus mall

One person has died following a shooting inside The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.

The mall is located at 5043 Tuttle Crossing Blvd. on the city’s Northwest Side.

According to Columbus Police, just before 3 p.m. yesterday, a shooting took place inside the shoe store Sole Stop. A man was hit by at least one bullet and pronounced dead several minutes after 3 p.m.

While Columbus Police noted the store was open at the time of the incident, with multiple people inside of it, he was the only victim.

Police noted that one person—who they believe to be the suspect in the shooting—is currently in custody. Neither the name of the victim or the suspect has been released by the time this story was published.

The Mall at Tuttle Crossing closed for the rest of the day following the incident.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 25 year old Dontarious Sylvester. According to court documents, 24 year old Tyrone Gray, Jr. has been charged with murder related to the incident.
