Police release dashcam video of attempted SUV theft

Columbus Police are asking for assistance identifying a would-be car thief.

This morning, Police posted a dashcam video of an individual attempting to steal a Hyundai SUV. The video was recorded on Aug. 10.

In the video, the suspect breaks one of the car’s rear windows before crawling through it into the driver’s seat. They were not successful in starting the vehicle.

This incident follows an outbreak of vehicles being stolen in Columbus, particularly Hyundais and Kias. Police are hoping the video will help them identify the suspect.
