Fundraising festival dedicated to Basset hounds coming to Columbus area this fall

Jack McLaughlin

The central Ohio summer offers no shortage of unique fairs and festivals, including one under the radar option that’s perfect for dog-loving families.

BassetFest, the central Ohio fundraising festival dedicated entirely to basset hounds, will return this year on Sept. 30, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The festival is held by Ohio Basset Hound Rescue (OBHR).

While the event itself serves as a fundraiser for OBHR, donations for the group can also be made during OBHR’s Facebook auctions which take place throughout the year.

The festival will be held at Pizzuro Dog Park, which is located at 940 Pizzuro Park Rd. in Gahanna.

According to the event’s website, Bassetfest featured approximately 165 different basset hounds last year, and plenty of basset-focused fun for the whole family.

The event featured a Basset Hound Costume Contest,  Longest Ears Contest and a Biggest Paws Contest and even basset hound races.
