Music, fireworks and food trucks. These three things are fantastic, but they make up the lion’s share of summer festivals in Columbus. One unique event that’s coming next month is switching up this narrative, however.

The Water Lantern Festival is coming to Columbus on June 3. The event will be held at Franklin Park, which is located at 1755 E. Broad St.

You can buy tickets, which start at $26.99, here.

The event allows visitors to create their very own floating water lanterns, complete personalized messages. Gates open at 6 p.m., with lantern design beginning at 8:30. Between 9-10 p.m., visitors will be able to launch their water lanterns, which come with an LED light, onto the water among thousands of others.

The festival is self-described as “filled with fun, happiness, hope, and great memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.”

The Water Lantern Festival, which was ranked as the best festival in the country in USA Today’s 2023 10Best Readers’ Choice awards, will also feature food and live music.
