Your guide to fun, fall, family festivities in Central Ohio

The leaves are changing, and so our ideas of outdoor fun. In the summer time, pools, fairs, and concerts might have been our go-to weekend plans, but now, we’re seeking more cozy, autumnal experiences. 

Look no further! He’s a comprehensive list of spots for some family fun this October, ranging from local farms with apple picking and pumpkin patches to some experiences on the more spooky side. Be sure to check out their websites for hours and admission information.

Day of the Dead Festival: Oct. 7th
Greenlawn Cemetery 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, OH 43223
A family-friendly celebration of El Dia de Los Muertos brought to us by Latino Arts for Humanity. Traditional food, Aztec dancers, artwork, children’s face painting, a parade, plus more!

Boo at the Zoo: Oct. 6th – 29th
Columbus Zoo; 4850 Powell Rd., Powell, OH
Spirited fun for the whole family! Dress up and enjoy a night out with costumes, treats, and Halloween-themed activities.

Lynd Fruit Farm: now until Oct. 29th
9399 Morse Rd. SW, Pataskala, OH and 9851 Morse Rd. SW
Apple picking and corn mazes – this is the spot for everything fall related. They have two locations with different festivities, so make sure to check out both.

Ghost Trolley: Oct. 6th – 28th 
The Ohio Railway Museum; 990 Proprietors Rd., Worthington, OH
Enjoy a kid-friendly, spooky train ride around Worthington, where you and the family will search for ghosts!

Pick your own apples, hop on a wagon ride, pet some farm animals, and even ride on a zip line!

Leeds Farm: now until Oct. 28th

When I say “fall,” you say, “Leeds Farm!” This spot has it all – rides, mini zip lines, farm animals, a pumpkin jump, giant slides, hayrides – everything you could want out of a fall day.

Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm: now until Oct. 29th
2920 State Route 203, Radnor, OH
Acres of family fun for all – pumpkin bowling, corn mazes, farm animals, hayrides, and even paintball awaits you at this pumpkin farm.

ZOMBIEzi Bay: now until Oct. 29th
Zoombezi Bay; 4850 Powell Rd., Powell, OH
Zoombezi Bay goes dark! This teenage-friendly event features four haunted house, two scare zones, plus other rides, making it Ohio’s Ultimate Halloween experience, according to their website.

Pumpkins Aglow: Oct. 11-29th
Franklin Park Conservatory; 1777 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH
Hundreds of illuminated pumpkins offer visitors a kid-friendly, spooky experience! Plus, a pumpkin patch, skeletons, pumpkin houses, and “an alien invasion.”

The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek: now until Oct. 29th

Get lost in a 9-acre Reba McEntire themed corn maze, compete in some laser tag, and pick some pumpkins together.
