Viral ‘Shrek’ themed dance party is coming to Columbus again this weekend

Sav McKee

Don’t put away your Halloween costumes yet – especially if you happened to dress as one of the most famous ogres in the word this year.

On Saturday, November 4th, Newport Music Hall is hosting the second “Shrek Rave” to ever come to Columbus – the first being in June of 2023. It was so good that people asked for more, apparently.

This viral Shrek themed dance party has traveled around the globe, and we’re honored that they know Columbus is weird enough to partake not just one time, but twice.

Go dressed as any character from Shrek, or just come as yourself. Either way, prepare to let loose. “It’s dumb, just have fun!” is the tagline for this event – it’s a time to fully lean into the silliness of people dressed as ogres and Lord Farquaad dancing their hearts out.

Honestly, I’m kind of imagining one of the extra scenes in Shrek, where all of the characters have a karaoke party in the swamp. If you know, you know. If you don’t, you’re welcome for this video.

While most Shrek raves are usually sold out, there’s still some tickets left for $23. You can buy them here. As a reminder, this event is 18+. Newport Music Hall is located at 1722 N. High St.
