Jeni’s & Land Grant Brewery collab on annual festival this Memorial Day Weekend, and it’s the biggest one yet
In Columbus, we gauge the arrival of summer not by a certain day on the calendar or the warmth of the sun, but by the day Jeni’s debuts their annual release of Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream.
For the past 6 years, Jeni’s and Land Grant Brewery have collaborated to kickstart summer and strawberry season by throwing a celebration, the Strawberry Jam, and this year, it’s on May 27th and 28th from 11am – 10pm. “We are beyond thrilled to, once again, be collaborating with our good friends at Jeni’s,” said Land-Grant Co-Founder and Creative Director Walt Keys. “Each year, our partnership has grown tighter and stronger, and we’ve been able to grow Strawberry Jam into the true launch of summer in Columbus; this year will be the biggest and best yet.”

And Keys really means it when he says that. This year, several new community partners will feature hands-on activities, family friendly experiences, performances, and live music, making this festival significantly larger than their Strawberry Jam festivals in the past. Tons of vendors, makers, and farmers will all be celebrating with us, too, and even the food options will all feature an ode to strawberries.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Strawberry Jam without the annual beer collaboration! This year’s new release is a Strawberry Rhubarb Ale named Splendid – it’s bright, fruity, soft, aromatic, and all around easy to drink. If you really can’t wait for Memorial Day Weekend to get your hands on it, Land Grant and Jeni’s did you a favor and already pushed it out to local grocery stores in 6-pack form.
This event also celebrates the Ohio farmers who are the backbone of the famous Strawberry Buttermilk ice cream we all know and love. They produce thousands of pounds of strawberries for Jeni’s, and Mike Hirsch of Hirsch Fruit Farm in Chillicothe will have juicy, fresh strawberries guests can purchase.
