One-of-a-kind Columbus rock climbing route featured in ‘New York Times’ now open in limited capacity
While it’s done so in a limited fashion, a truly unique Columbus attraction has opened to the public.
The via ferrata (a type of beginner-friendly rock climbing route that utilizes metal footholds and handholds), has opened at Quarry Trails Metro Park, according to Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks visitor engagement manager Jill Snyder.
While the attraction is not yet listed publicly yet, Snyder said those interested in trying out an early climb of the wall can email the Metro Parks Outdoor Adventure team on social media.

The via ferrata will eventually appear on Metro Parks’ official website, Snyder said.
Visitors will be able to take on the via ferret after registering with the Outdoor Adventure staff. Columbus & Franklin County Metro parks will have climbing gear that can be used.
If you’re interested in learning more about via ferratas and the one at Quarry Trails, the attraction was featured in a “New York Times” story last year.
