Referring to the southern Ohio hotspot as an “outdoor wonderland,” a recently-published list by “Forbes” of the 50 best places in the world for travel includes the Hocking Hills.

The area–parts of which are just over 45 minutes from downtown Columbus–joins exotic destinations such as Bucharest, Curacao and Cyprus on the “Forbes” list.

“Perhaps Ohio’s prettiest spot, the Hocking Hills region is dotted with waterfalls, cliffs, recessed caves and hemlock forests making it an outdoor wonderland. Trails criss-cross the region taking you to Ash Cave and Old Man’s Cave. However, with nine state parks and nature preserves—not including state forests and other protected lands—it’s easy to find spectacular scenery without the crowds as well,” the Hocking Hills section reads.

In the story, locations were listed alphabetically and were not qualitatively ranked.

Last year, “Forbes” published a similar list, although it featured only 22 entries instead of 50. The Hocking Hills did not appear on it.
