Columbus bartender turned author teams up with punk bands to release anticipated second book

While punk rock and cocktails may seem like uncommon companions, veteran Columbus bartender turned author Jesse Hubbard has paired them for the second time in his new book, Punk Rock & Cocktails, Vol. 2.

For those unfamiliar with Vol. 1, Hubbard created interpretive cocktails for a number of his favorite punk records. His goal with each was to capture his subjective experience of the albums in the best way he can: through cocktails.

“I tried to capture the essence, the energy of these records that mean so much to me. I wanted to do them justice and pay tribute the best way I know how,” Hubbard said.

While Vol. 1 featured the likes of Henry Rollins, Minor Threat, Less Than Jake and many more, the new book turns toward a different, but equally-impressive slate of punk acts: The Misfits, The Clash and Rancid, to name a few. Local acts that have made an impression on Hubbard like Huge Euge and Two Cow Garage are included in the book as well.

And while Hubbard is still writing about drinks and remains involved in the Columbus service industry scene, he currently operates Saint Russel Productions. An event company named after (and inspired by) his late father, Saint Russel Productions specializes in concept booking and curated cocktail experiences.
