Historic ice cream festival with ice cream-eating contest, ice cream parade, returns this weekend

A whole lot of ice cream in a historic setting awaits.

The long-standing Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival, which has been held since 1975, will take place from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on May 27-28 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on May 29.

The festival will take place at Ye Olde Mill, which serves as Velvet Ice Cream Co.’s headquarters. The Mill is located 11324 Mt. Vernon Rd. in Utica, which is approximately 50 minutes away from Downtown Columbus.

Admission this year will cost $10 per car.

This year’s event will feature more than 90 different artisans and vendors, will also include its annual Ice Cream Parade, an Ice Cream eating contest (featuring Velvet Ice Cream), in addition to a car show, magic show, egg toss, pony rides, live music and more. It will also feature a a general store, an ice cream tent, a ham and bean tent, and other food options.

In honor of the rapidly-approaching Ohio Summer, Velvet Ice Cream recently released its seasonal Orange and Rainbow Sherbet.
