“We’ve been so busy,” said Pam Escudero, co-owner of the new restaurant, Lupitas Mexican Cuisine.

Lupitas opened on July 31st in the German/Merion Village area, right on 1586 S. High St in the building that once housed popular restaurants, Explorers Club and Geordie’s. Their current hours are 11am to 9pm.

Their menu features authentic Mexican dishes, inspired by Ed Escudero’s heritage in Mexico City, and boasts around 75 meals to choose from, like traditional fajitas, burritos, and tacos, along with Mexican street corn, Mexican cheese fries, sopas, tostadas, and much, much more.

Escudero mentioned that a patio is also in the works.

The reviews are already in: Pam mentioned that “our guests are loving our restaurant.” One guest enthusiastically said, “The food… omg the food ya’ll!! I am a HUGE fan of choripollo and not many places here serve it (or serve it well). Welp… THIS place does it like nobody’s business! That was the best choripollo I have ever had. I was literally dancing in my seat and I’m not kidding with you.” Another said, “Delicious!!! The decor is amazing. Salsas and queso — sooo good. I got the lobster chimichanga and loved it.”

I know my weekend plans now – some veggie fajitas and a pitcher of sangria at Lupita’s.
