After closing to mourn manager killed in south side shooting, this Columbus-area eatery reopens today

Several days after closing to mourn a critical coworker and close personal friend, Jomar and Shanika Sheppard are ready to move forward with their restaurant.

Marlow’s Cheesesteaks, the Philadelphia-inspired eatery located at 93 N. High St. in Gahanna, re-opened for business at noon today.

It had been closed since last weekend, when manager and friend of the Sheppards Christopher Manteen was shot and killed while searching for his stolen car on South High Street.

“We want to thank each and everyone of you for supporting us as we mourn the loss of our beloved friend Christopher Mateen,” a statement posted to Marlow’s social media accounts reads. Jomar Sheppard also told614Now that Marlow’s is “truly blessed” after the outpouring of community support the restaurant has received since Manteen’s death.

A GoFundMe account that was launched on Monday afternoon managed to raise more. than $10,000 for Manteen’s funeral and memorial expenses.
