Legacy Smokehouse’s restaurant space has been shuttered since it was tragically damaged in a fire in late 2021. After being closed for nearly a year and a half, the popular Hilliard eatery plans to reopen this month.

According to a post from the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, Legacy will officially reopen to the public on May 19. The announcement came following a sneak-peek and fundraiser the eatery held late last month.

“May 19 will be the official day that Legacy Smokehouse will reopen in Old Hilliard to serve its amazing barbecue and sides! There was a special event earlier for people to attend to support the owners for a sneak peek. The building has been renovated and has had improvements since the fire. Don’t forget about Rickhouse 41 which is the bourbon bar upstairs! We will be posting videos talking about how things have changed! Get ready, Hilliard,” the statement reads.

Rickhouse 41 is the name of owner Chad Smock’s new rooftop bourbon bar, which will open on the second floor roof of the historic Old Hilliard home where Legacy Smokehouse is located.

The eatery has been operating its food truck on select occasions, but this is the first time Legacy Smokehouse will open its brick and mortar home since the fire.
