Central Ohio bakery and sweet shop closing after more than a decade

After 13 years in business, the Downtown Canal Winchester spot Fantasy Cupcake will close its doors for good.

The bakery posted a lengthy statement to its Instagram account  announcing the closure, which it said will take place on Feb. 17

Fantasy Cupcake is located at 3 S. High St. in Canal Winchester.

“This decision was not made lightly, and it fills me with both sadness and gratitude. I have cherished every moment spent serving our valued customers,” the statement reads. “Your support, loyalty, and the opportunity to be a part of your lives have meant the world to me. We’ve formed so many wonderful memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!”

While one Downtown Canal Winchester eatery is on its way out, though, another is already preparing to take its place.

The sister of Fantasy Cupcake owner Sarah Dotson plans to take over the bakery space when it closes with a new concept called Coffee on High. According to a Facebook post announcing the new business, Coffee on High plans to open in April, although an exact date was not given.
