Columbus’ “anime chef” opening new location featuring jerk pizza, wings and more

Chef Hiro is on the move.

The Columbus concept known for jerk chicken and unique atmosphere (complete with anime) opened its first brick and mortar home last year in the former home of Village Taco, and now–according to owner Jean Claude Ba–a new express location is in the works.

Known as Chef Hiro Xpress, the new eatery will be located at, 2864 N. High St., Ba told 614Now. It will operate as a ghost kitchen, offering pickup and delivery only.

Ba noted the new location will offer a fair share of exclusive items, like wings, but the cornerstone Chef Hiro Xpress will be its jerk pizzas.

“We have jerk salmon pizza, jerk chicken pizza shrimp pizzas, vegan pizzas and a lot of specialty pizzas like oxtail pizzas,” he said. “We’ve done a few test runs of our pizzas and they’ve all sold out within the first 3 to 4 hours, so I’m really excited to see the response from the student population.”

The new express eatery is slated to open in September.
