Eatery featuring Bagel Bombs, Black Lemonade coming to Italian Village

Jack McLaughlin

A popular Columbus bakery is coming to Budd Dairy Food Hall, and leaning into a unique and trendy new snack while doing so.

According to owner Annie Dickson, Bite This by Annie will be opening as a pop-up inside Budd Dairy Food Hall’s rotating Hatch kitchen space on April 11. Dickson’s pop-up will run through July 10.

The Columbus bakery–which currently operates out of a commercial kitchen and is sold in local farmers markets and retail stores–will offer a variety of goods for Italian Village diners, but its new Budd Dairy space will be anchored by a popular new one: Bagel Bombs.

“A bagel bomb is a homemade bagel stuffed with flavored cream cheese. Flavor combinations are endless, we’ve done everything from Steak & Ale Pie to a Reuben and everything in between,” Dickson told 614Now. “We’re bringing the most popular flavors to Budd. Smashburger, Pepperoni Pizza, Mexican Street Corn & a Vegan Aloo Gobi.”

According to Dickson, she first released her Bagel Bombs last spring as a way to attract more breakfast customers, but the item took on a life of its own.

“I came up with bagel bombs as a more grab and go breakfast item to draw customers in on a more daily basis and they quickly became the main character.”

Bite This by Annie will also offer plenty of sweet treats and the concept’s unique riff on a classic drink: Black Lemonade, which is made with a hint of vanilla and (optional) edible black glitter.

According to Dickson, she’s considering launching a brick and mortar home for the bakery, and will use her stint in Budd Dairy as a guide in that process.

“What’s special about Budd is you’re being given the opportunity to run a brick and mortar without taking on the monumental upfront costs. I’m considering this next few months a trial run for myself to see if I have what it takes, and if my product is something the community wants on a more day to day basis,” she said.
