‘Food & Wine’ names Columbus spot in list of country’s best pizza

It’s not just our local Facebook groups that recognize Terita’s Pizza as a national treasure.

In a list from ‘Food & Wine’ that ranks the best pizza in every state, the ever-popular Terita’s was tapped. Here’s what the story says about the central Ohio spot.

Things thin down considerably in Columbus, home of the Johnny Marzetti noodle-beef-cheese casserole, in case you needed a reminder that the Midwest really does start here. Terita’s does the regional style proudest, operating out of its little North End bunker for more than 60 years now. This is definitely a thin-crust town, but the dough at Terita’s has never been an afterthought.

Located at 3905 Cleveland Ave. on the city’s north side, Terita’s has been serving its thin, square-cut pies since it was founded by Gus Iannarino in 1959.

The ‘Food & Wine’ list also cites DiCarlo’s as a must-try spot in the Buckeye state. The historic Ohio pizzeria hails from Steubenville, but now operates multiple eateries in the Columbus area.
