From Taiwanese fried chicken to mini donuts, here’s our list of under-the-radar Columbus food trucks to try today

Jack McLaughlin

Let’s face it, there are a whole lot of food trucks in Columbus, and even the most dedicated foodies can’t have a handle on them all. So we’ll give you somewhere to start. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite under-the-radar trucks that deserve some love. You can thank us later.

Sofi’s Mini Donut

There’s just something about a miniature donut–especially when it’s served warm and coated in cinnamon sugar–that we can’t get enough of. And now that Sofi’s Mini Donuts is operating under regular hours (weekends from 12-6 p.m. at Tanger Outlet Mall in Sunbury), we’re ready to get our fill.

What the Float

Why let root beer have all the fun? What the Float is serving up a variety of floats, combing hand-scooped Perry’s ice cream and more than 30 different flavors of craft soda. The owners of the concept have also opened their brick and mortar ice cream shop in Grove City, Strawser’s ice Cream, Pop & Candy shop.

Clutch Handheld Breakfast

Lose the spoon, and grab a sandwich. This Columbus-area food truck is offering a number of (you guessed it) handheld breakfast creations, including a Chorizo Muffin (spicy chorizo, herb roasted tomato, hash brown and rosemary honey butter on a toasted English muffin) and the Breakfast Cheesesteak (thinly-shaved steak, onions, scrambled eggs and cheese on French bread).

Chicken & Tea

While this might not be a common food combination in central Ohio, it probably should be. The truck offers Tiawanese-style fried chicken (served as nuggets or a cutlet) in addition to bubble tea and sides like Sweet Potato Fries and Asian Buns.

LB’s Golden Fried Fish N’ Chicken

You may have heard of LB’s Golden Fried Fish N’ Chicken at some point, but chances are you didn’t realize the popular ghost kitchen opened a brand-new food truck, and is now taking a more concise version of its hearty menu on the road.
