Hilliard ice cream & candy shop closes after 5 months of service, but new plans are in the works

A newly opened ice cream & soda shop in Hilliard is set to close at the end of the week, but there’s still hope for the Hilliard community to get their soda float fix.

On July 24th, Strawser’s, well known for their unique candies, soda floats, and ice cream concoctions, announced that they were closing their Hilliard location, which first opened this year on March 3rd. A post on Facebook revealed, “…It was a very hard decision to come to but in the end, it’s something we have to do…We sincerely appreciate everyone who’s come out in these last 4 months and supported our business. We appreciate you more than we can say…”

Co-owner Mike Strawser said that the Hilliard location was “good and busy,” but that “we recently expanded our Grove City location, and I want to focus my effort there,” in addition to focusing on their escape room, Conundrum Games, plus their food truck, What The Float.

There’s some good news for those who made this Hilliard shop their family go-to spot though; the Strawser’s concept will essentially remain at 3229 Hilliard Rome Rd., but they’re transferring ownership to another person. “They’re taking the name out of it and it will essentially stay the same. Same ice cream and building and all that, just a new name.”

“Hopefully the community will still have their ice cream shop they know and love,” remarked Strawser. “Again, we can’t tell you enough how much we appreciate the people who have come into our store. Thank you all so very much.”

The Grove City Strawser’s location will remain at 4026 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
