Iconic chain known for toasted sandwiches announces dozens of new Ohio locations

In Chicago, back in 1977, a sandwich shop decided to open in an old antique store, utilizing the antique oven already there to create concoctions of warm, toasty sandwiches. Since then, this iconic neighborhood sandwich concept, Potbelly, has expanded to 430 more shops in the United States.

Now, Potbelly Sandwich Works just announced in a press release the completion of a 40-unit development agreement in Ohio and Florida with Royal Restaurant Group, and this includes developing new shops in Columbus and the rest of Ohio, and even refranchising the four Potbelly’s that are currently already here.

“We’ve always been fans of Potbelly, and we’re thrilled to be formally working together with the team as we bring the brand to new areas of the country,” said Randy Pianin, Co-founder and CEO of Royal Restaurant Group. “Our first priority at any of our restaurants is to establish a strong foundation centered around quality, taste and value. We look forward to serving up Potbelly’s iconic toasted sandwiches, soups and cookies to more diners and continuing the brand’s tradition of providing excellent service and atmosphere in the years ahead.”

Potbelly’s menu features loaded toasted subs, large salads, soups, chips, cookies, and even mac & cheese and milkshakes.

There are currently Potbelly shops Downtown, Polaris, Dublin, and on Olentangy River Rd. The opening dates of the dozens of new Potbelly locations around Columbus haven’t yet been announced, but they’ll be in the works soon.
