Incredibly popular East-Coast inspired sandwich shop opening second Cbus location

Merry Christmas, Clintonville. Santa’s bringing you one of the most popular sandwich shops in Columbus, which will open next month.

Wario’s Beef and Pork has consistently been voted as one of the best restaurants in Columbus, and they’ve been featured throughout numerous magazines and publications, so it’s a pretty big deal that they announced they’re opening a second location in Clintonville next month, located at 4219 N. High St., which used to house The Pit BBQ.

Stephen Madias said that they’ve been planning on this Clintonville space since March of 2022, but it was quite the process optimizing the space for build-outs and guest seating. “It’s our first brick & mortar – the challenges make it that much sweeter though,” he said.

“A brick & mortar space allows us to control the dialogue and atmosphere of the things we speak about. It will be more of a vintage and family-oriented vibe, with community tables. We want to be that neighborhood spot. That was always our intention,” Madias emphasized.

Currently, Wario’s operates a quaint walk-up window in the Arena District at 111 W. Nationwide Blvd., and it will remain there even though they’re opening a brick & mortar space. “That walk-up window is the first food establishment that I’ve owned. That’s my baby, and it’s always gonna get the biggest love. That little 500 square foot space has provided us with opportunities and paved the path to give us the reputation to be in a new area like Clintonville,” said Madias.

The menu at that little walk-up window may appear simple, but each sandwich is absolutely loaded with flavor and their signature, high-quality meats, vegetables, sauces, and homemade bread.

While their new shop will carry some of everyone’s favorites, like The Cheesesteak – Wario’s Way, they’re also excited to drop new menu items that will be exclusive to the Clintonville shop. “We have more space in our new kitchen and more space to play. You can expect the beef & pork and falafel items that are our trademark, but also new renditions of favorites, like new cold cuts and new daily specials,” explained Madias.

Right now, you can build the anticipation and get in on the fun – if you buy any sandwich at the OG Nationwide location, you’ll receive a ticket in the drawing to win one free sandwich a week for an entire year (redeemable at the Clintonville location only). They haven’t announced an exact opening day, but it will definitely be in January. Follow along on their Instagram and Facebook for updates!
