While we all celebrated a new year at the beginning of January, the end of December also marked an ending for one Columbus coffee shop.

Cielo Cafe, a fair trade, globally-sourced coffee shop and eatery located at 1762 N. High St., announced that it has officially closed its doors.

The cafe’s last day of business was Dec. 30.

“The final day of operations at Cielo Cafe will be Dec. 30, 2022. Thank you to everyone who made 2022 an amazing year,” a statement posted to the cafe’s Instagram reads.

The statement also notes that “the best is yet to come,” for the cafe. It’s unclear if this means a new concept or iteration of the cafe will be opening. A request for comment was not returned by the time this story was published.
