Long-standing Columbus libations hotspot moving to Grandview area

For over a decade, Brothers Drake Meadery has operated its production facility and taproom from the Short North. By the beginning of next year, however, that will change.

According to Brothers Drake co-owner Sarah Benary, the Columbus Meadery and music venue is relocating to 1025 W. 3rd Ave. in Fifth by Northwest.

“It gives about twice the amount of production room, which we desperately needed,” Beneray said of the 10,000 square foot space. “We’ve been operating on a setup that was entirely too small for 14 years.”

At a total of 6,000 square feet, the new taproom and meadery is currently open, as is Brothers’ Drake’s old location at 26 E. Fifth Ave. in the Short North. The Short North space will close at the end of the year, as more equipment and the concept’s live music stage is moved into the new storefront.

Brothers Drake’s larger production space (which will be available for tours) will allow the popular concept to continue to expand its distribution footprint. Currently, the company’s bottled mead is available throughout Ohio, and soon they plan to target a move into other states as well.

While some things will change, the community spirit of the Columbus spot will remain the same at its new location.

“Like in the short North, we want to have what the community wants. We built our Short North space based on people who came in and told us what they wanted, and we want to continue that,” Beneray said.
