Owners of Chapmans Eat Market announce opening date for anticipated new Short North restaurant

In less than two weeks, Hiraeth, the anticipated new wood fire-focused concept from the owners of Chapmans Eat Market and Ginger Rabbit, BJ Lieberman and Browyn Haines, will officially open its doors on Aug. 9

Hiraeth is located at 36 E. Lincoln St., in a new building just off N. High Street in the Short North.

The anticipated concept will occupy both the ground level and basement floor of the building, leaning into lighter tilework on the first floor, and darker tiles on the lower level, alongside stacks of wood for the eatery’s central live-fire cooking element.

According to the eatery’s website, the name Hiraeth is a Welsh word without an exact English translation, although it typically refers to “a feeling akin to homesickness, but in a good way,” the website reads. “If you’ve ever walked into someone’s home and a smell or a piece of furniture reminds you of your grandparents house, or a special place you’ve visited, that is Hiraeth.”

Hiareath follows the opening of fellow wood-fired concept, Agni, which was opened by Columbus chef Avishar Barua earlier this year
