Owners of local burger spot open new sandwich shop

Gourmet sandwiches and artisan grocery goods have arrived at Hilliard’s Center Street Market.

Norwich Grocery, a new concept from the owners of Hot Mess, John and Andrea Ciardelli, officially opened its doors last last week.

Located in Center Street Market—alongside Hot Mess’ first brick and mortar storefront—Norwich Grocery occupies the spaces that Two Step Tacos and Al’s Delicious Popcorn previously held.

The new concept brings local snacks (including Al’s Delicious Popcorn) and other grocery items, in addition to made to order sandwiches like their Pastrami Melt and muffulettas, soups and salads.

“We were first going to do just a snack shop only, but with Two Step Taco leaving, we looked at what we thought the market was missing, and what people would want to have,” John Ciardelli said.
