Popular Athens chicken and waffles spot coming to Columbus
By the beginning of February, B.B.C. Chicken N’ Waffles had already made a name for itself in the college town of Athens, amassing a sizable following nearly a year after opening its first restaurant space.
Due to an issue with their leasing office, which the eatery addressed here, BBC left its Athens home earlier this year, closing for good on Feb. 2.
While the eatery said goodbye to its only brick and mortar home in February, it is now headed to central Ohio. According to Brian Godfrey, who owns the concept alongside his wife, Leslie (who did not want her last name published), it plans to open in the next several weeks in the Columbus Food Hall, a collection of commercial ghost kitchens located at 1282 Essex Ave.

“We’re partially using this location to test the Columbus market, but we would like to open a brick and mortar here, and the ghost kitchen will be a way to help us build our brand,” Godfrey said.
With waffle and chicken bites on the sides, the eatery is known for a collection of indulgent waffle sandwiches. You can see their full Columbus menu here. Godfrey noted the B.B.C. sandwich, which features a fried chicken breast that’s topped with syrup and served between two waffles, and THE Bad Boy, which adds their spicy signature sauce to the B.B.C., are the brands most popular items.
Customers will be able to order for pickup or delivery.
