Popular Short North area eatery closing today after 17 years
A popular cafe that’s been tucked away in a Short North area alley for almost two decades is saying goodbye today.
Tasi Cafe, located at 680 N. Pearl St., released a statement on Instagram that says, “We have loved being a special part of this community. Our cafe opened our hearts and our doors to you for 17 years. Thank you for being so loyal and supportive.”
The post confirms that Friday, August 4th, will be their last day.
Tasi was originally opened by Tasi Rigsby in 2007, with a mission to “provide good food, made fast and at a reasonable price. Everything on our menu is prepared from fresh, whole ingredients without any trans-fat, corn syrup or other unnatural fillers,” their website says.

Almost every weekend, the line was out the door to snag a spot in their sunlit dining room or flower-lined patio. Their menu consisted made-from-scratch fare, such as blueberry buttermilk pancakes, omelettes, smoked salmon sandwiches, espresso, and hibiscus mimosas. Their breads and pastries were also fresh and made in-house daily.
“We will see you again. Your second family, Tasi Cafe,” their statement signed off.
