Popular taco shop opening new location in former Columbus “sober bar” today

Fittingly, the first Taco Tuesday of September will also mark the opening of a brand-new taco restaurant in Downtown Columbus.

According to a statement posted to House Taco’s social media accounts, the eatery will hold the opening of its new location today.

The taco spot, which previously occupied the restaurant space inside the Ohio State House, has moved from its former location to another unique Columbus storefront. It will be located at 79 S. 4th St., inside the former home of The Dry Mill, a sober bar that shuttered earlier this year.

House Taco will be open for breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m., and from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for lunch,

According to owner Zachary Martin, the concept’s new location will fully open across several “phases” this year, with another opening in October after House Taco launches its dinner menu (it will be open for breakfast and lunch only until then). An official grand will likely take place at the end of the year when Martin anticipates the restaurant will receive its liquor license,

In an interview earlier this year, Martin told 614Now that House Taco plans to keep the foundation of its offerings the same, while transitioning into a “hybrid taqueria,” where patrons can watch a Buckeyes, grab some casual finger foods and still order quality tacos alongside signature cocktails.
