After six years, a cornerstone eatery in Uptown Westerville has closed its doors.

According to Barrel & Boar president Stan Riley, the concept’s Westerville storefront is now closed. The eatery was located at 8 N. State St. in the historic former home of the State Theater.

Riley announced the closure last week in a statement posted to Barrel & Boar Westerville’s Facebook page.

“Over the past 6 years we have had an incredible journey – and we couldn’t have done it without the tremendous support and love from this wonderful community. Your patronage and friendship have made Barrel & Boar Westerville a true gathering place for friends and families to share delicious food, laughter, and unforgettable memories,” Riley’s statement reads. “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for making Barrel & Boar Westerville an integral part of your lives. The bonds forged here have been truly special, and we’ll carry these memories with us as we embark on a new chapter.”

The popular barbecue concept will continue to operate multiple other Columbus-area locations, including eateries in the North Market Downtown, Gahanna’s Creekside District and Lancaster.

According to Riley, Barrel & Boar accepted an offer from a new restaurant to take over the Westerville space, although it’s currently unclear what this is and when it will open.
