The owner of District West has opened a new restaurant concept in the Grandview area

A popular downtown bar and nightclub is opening an eatery of its own.

District West, which is located at 145 W. 5th St., operates as a venue for live music shows, and has garnered a following for the quality of its entertainment and its creation of an LGBTQIA-friendly space for all.

And now, it plans to make a name for itself in the city’s food scene as well. According to owner Misty Linn, District West recently opened a new spinoff restaurant, called dW’s Eatery.

Located at 1021 W. Fifth Ave., in the former home of Rudy’s, dW’s Eatery operates as a casual sports bar and late-night spot that retains the same inclusivity District West has become known for.

“We want to stress that [dW’s Eatery] is still a sports bar, we still have March Madness and NFL Ticket, we’re just bringing that safe-space mentality from District West into a restaurant,” Linn said.

Linn helped Rudy’s previous owner Rudy Tirado Gonzalez open Rudy’s several years ago, and returned as a member of the concept’s ownership group in order to open dW’s Eatery. Rudy Tirado Gonzalez was killed in a shooting earlier this year, which previously left the fate of the Grandview-area eatery in the air. Rudy’s had been temporarily closed until dW’s Eatery opened.

‘I’m very familiar with the space, with the building, ” Linn said, noting that the menu of Rudy’s will largely stay the same as dW’s Eatery. Brunch will be served Saturday and Sunday.

While its hours could change, dW’s Eatery is currently open from 4-11 p.m. on Monday, and 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. from Tuesday-Thursday and on Sunday. The eatery will remain open late on Friday and Saturday, serving from a late-night menu until midnight and remaining open until 2 a.m.
