These are Ohio’s must-try burger joints, according to national travel guide
With Columbus’ nickname being “Cow Town,” it’s only fitting that there’s an abundance of good burgers not only in Cbus, but in Ohio in general.
From gigantic, almost impossible to eat burgers, to mini sliders from a cafe in a tiny town, here are what East Coast Traveler, a travel guide publication, considers the best burger joints in all of Ohio.
#6 The Turf Club – Cincinnati
These burgers are so good that Turf Club can get away with serving them on paper plates. This East-side neighborhood tavern offers cheap, fresh and never frozen, thick & cheesy burgers that have become a Cincinnati staple.
5. Flip Side Easton – Columbus
This Easton burger joint is really making a name for itself lately. With 100% grass-fed beef and unique toppings such as truffle aioili, wild mushrooms, macaroni, and even peanut better, it’s no wonder people are flocking here for a good ol’ Ohio burger & fries combo.
4. The Thurman Cafe – Columbus
Dating back to 1942, The Thurman Cafe has been slinging some excellent burgers for decades, but they’re most known for their gigantic Thurmanator, which, starting from the bottom to the top, consists of: a bottom bun, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana pappers, then a 12 ounce burger patty, bacon, cheddar, then another 12 ounce burger patty, topped with sautéed onions & mushrooms, ham, mozzarella & American cheese, then finally a top bun, served with fries and a pickle spear.

3. Crabill’s Hamburger Shoppe – Urbana
These sliders might not look like much, compared to the aforementioned Thurmanator, but this no-frills, 95 year old burger shoppe substitutes flavor for frills.
2. Sammy’s Craft Burgers and Beers – Cincinnati
I mean, it’s all in the name. If you’re looking for a a specialized craft burger, you can grab a “Fretboard Burger” here, topped with warm beer cheese and Red Ale beer.
1. Gahanna Grill – Gahanna
Congrats to a central Ohio spot for being placed at number 1! Gahanna Grill is known for local pub fare, especially their half pound burgers, like the”Beanie Burger,” (not made with beans, although they do have a veggie bean burger, too!).
