New sushi restaurant set to open inside historic building

On March 1st, 2022, Yoshi opened their first location on Ohio State’s Campus. Now, after a year plus of success on High St., they’re planning on opening a second location, according to a recently filed city permit.

An employee at Yoshi mentioned that even though the restaurant is on the newer side, it’s still very busy with customers. “The Buckeye Roll is definitely the most popular,” said this employee, “along with the yogurt smoothies in the summer.”

Yoshi Yum focuses on offering healthy options to the community such as yogurt smoothies and bubble teas, along with selections of fresh Asian Fusion fare. Classic cooked or raw sushi rolls are made to order, in addition to fresh poke bowls or steaming hibachi bowls.

Their second restaurant will be located at 2781 Olentangy River Rd., which is the old location for the now-closed Buckeye apparel store, Across the Field, which sold Ohio State gear and memorabilia for 15 years. The brick building was originally built in 1870.

Although Buckeye themed T-shirts won’t be located in this building anymore, Yoshi’s popular Buckeye Roll will hopefully fill that void.
